Politicians at Wimbledon

David Cameron just looked like he was enjoying himself and the occasion. Alex Salmond behind him behaved very poorly. Waving his arms in giant 'look at me' claps whenever the camera was on Cameron was bad enough. But pulling out the Saltire and trying to hold it up behind Cameron's head after Murray won was just utterly pathetic. Don't some politicians ever stop attention seeking and trying to make capitol on the efforts of others?

Did anyone else think it was a bit, um, cheeky for loads of politicians to be at Wimbledon, whilst government funding for grassroots sport is being massively cut?

Should have got an immediate interview with Cameron.

Two questions...

How important is this win for the nation?

What are your plans for stopping the cuts to sports funding?

No. Would have been worse if the country's leaders hadn't been there to support the first British man to win in most of our lifetimes.

Salmond and the banal waving of the Scottish flag was cringeworthy, regarding Cameron, I'm sure if anyone was PM and were offered centre court tickets for Wimbledon where there was a Brit in the final you would turn it down because some muppets might take offence and spit their dummies out, i think not. I'd be at every major sporting occassion if i was in his shoes!!

In fairness, the lack of quality British tennis players should be at the LTA's door, not the politicians. They've failed a nation for decades.

safe to say Cameron (or any politician for that matter) will now do the popular thing and make it Sir Andy - personally I find it cringe worthy that Honours, that are meant to be a reward for a lifetime of achievement, seem based on what may be a short term vote winner so handed out way too soon. Brilliant result for Murray but I hope they just let him get on with his life without all the hob nobbing and 'celebrity' as otherwise he'll lose his edge far too soon.......when he retires then is the time time to reward his achievement. As for Salmon, he's the best reason for independence so we can be rid of bell ends like him!

Salmond was an embarrassment to himself, his cause and his country.
