It's just the timing of it, and when I plan to be in Australia. I've heard good things about Perth, and would like to do it, but logistics may get in the way. Getting to Melbourne from Perth might be the sticking point. Presumably not cheap due to distances involved (I'll be on a backpacker's budget

You might get a flight from sydney or melbourne to perth for about $350 one way.. trains are way more expensive..
