Sky will broadcast its first ever free-to-air live match on the opening day of the new season amid its escalating battle with BT Sport.

As part of a revamped schedule, it will show its 5.30pm Premier League kick-off live on 17 August as well as a Football League match live at lunchtime as part of a new show called FL72.

Sky Sports 1 will shift to Sky Sports 2 for the day, allowing Sky viewers who do not subscribe to the sports package to watch for nothing...

and on Freeview and YouView services it will take over Pick TV for the day.

we are better off under the radar tbh....let them wet themselves over leeds, qpr, and reading....and put more pressure on them, and let us be able to study their game and players.

Leeds play boring football... Yet they persist on putting it on because all the Leeds fans are on the dole so have nothing better to do then breed and make more scummy leeds fans that will eventually all end up in Jail for punching goalkeepers...

Same old sky, putting on dirty Leeds on again and again. I've cancelled sky sports over the summer and am tempted not to reinstate it when the football season starts.

It's a double edged sword for me.

I think Gus was as much a draw for Sky as the Amex and good football were but think we could see us down the pecking order now, which hopefully means more straightforward Saturday 3pm kick offs! (Except Leeds at home of course...)

As someone on NSC stated the other day regarding the Sky and Leeds love in: from a marketing point of view it's a no-brainer.

Not sure that they will this season with McDermot, the game up there at the end of the season was pretty entertaining and he hadn't been there long. In fact when was the last game we played against Leeds that was anything but very entertaining ???

Leeds have the biggest fan base in the division so draw the highest viewing figures. Hardly suprising they are on the most is it.

Id rather not be on sky and have a decent amount of games at 3pm on a Saturday. Although the odd Friday nighter is usually fun.

Did you pluck that assumption out of thin air?..... The Amex was the main factor, not Gus,.... our crowd levels were a good factor too,.... not Gus,.....but I do hope we get more Sat 3pm games,...... but I think the usual Bank holiday, pride, university days will shift us as usual.

That's why we are away on first match, ................to Leeds

The most curious thing..
But Leeds are the real champions of Europe - who wouldn't want to watch them?

This is true. Only yesterday,a Leeds supporting colleague proudly told me that although they had fallen on hard times, such was the strength of their fanbase that they quite comfortably topped the championship attendance tables. Oh. :D

Is this the Sky nationwide schedule or the Yorkshire/Lancashire TV schedule?
