hypothetical question- If Dick Knight ever became involved on the board of Brighton City FC (Whitehawk) and urged all disgruntled Albion fans (all those who have posted nostalgic comments on nsc and slated Barber et al etc) to come and follow this new venture- marketing it as a throwback to the Goldstone, Gillingham, Withdean glory years, how many people do you think would consider doing it? I fully expect some to slate/want ban/mock another of my threads but it is a serious question!

I would go on weekends when the Albion are away. Presumably that would be most weeks. I'd be all over it like a rash.

I'm not going to mock you but I do think it is a strange area for debate. We are Brighton & Hove Albion supporters, not Dick Knight or Tony Bloom supporters. Some of us can look back with a fondness at the Goldstone, Gillingham and Withdean years, but only because it is part of the history that has brought us to where we are now. People have different opinions about Dick it seems but we should all agree that he is the last person in the world who would ever suggest that Albion supporters such as us, and him, would ever support another club.

Well I assume all these people like ROTR who keep saying they are going to cancel their season tickets because the club is becoming too corporate?

(My actual guess is none).

Is this not the same as all those celebrity Tories like Paul Daniels who always threaten to leave the country if Labour get in, and then never do!?

I imagine Lewes would be a more likely destination for any fans so disgruntled with the commercialisation of the club that they would walk away.

But I think it would need a few more straws to break that camel's back.

agree Gillingham wasn't glorious but was wondering how far people would go with their current feelings. Dick's comments about 'corporate' Albion, the losing love for the albion thread and the anti Barber brigade. don't get me wrong- I'm not actively campaigning for this to happen. I'm sure and really hope that the club can find the right balance between being corporate and community.
