Okay so Barber has stated that they'll appoint an interim manager that has experienced in that role (thank god Rafa is not available, Guus Hiddink anyone :dunce: )

Also, fans' forum at The Amex 1st August???

Could be interesting

It would be perfectly possible to appoint Oscar as Interim Manager. Once the processes for Gus are complete and exhausted, there would then be a vacancy which could be filled.

In business, there are specialist Interim Managers or people are appointed in an Interim/Designate/Acting role until the position can be filled.

If however, Oscar doesnt want to come in on that basis, an experienced hand would be ok to hold the fort and sensibly, McGhee might fit that bill? However, if he is coming, Interim Manager in a designate sort of way should not worry him at all.

Some people has raised concerns about constructive dismissal but having gone through due process, that would seem a very unlikely potential route.

I remain confident that Paul Barber and the club has handled this issue exceptionally well.

Where does it say that? It says "an experienced interim manager". I read that as an experienced manager, rather than one with experience of working as an interim! Which doesn't really rule anyone in or out, dependant on the interpretation of "experienced" e.g. Oscar has experience of managing in Israel!

It'll be McGhee ....

Hopefully not. Think Naylor tweeted earlier that it wouldn't be him anyway, but couldn't understand why there was an adverse reaction to the idea. Personally, I'm not against McGhee coming in for a couple of weeks - just my preference would be that somehow the manager who we want long term could come in under the assumed title until it can be made permanent for continuity purposes.

The thing is, if it has to be an "interim" manager for legal reasons (i.e. they can't be seen to replace Gus before he has his right of appeal), then the club can't give Oscar a permanent contract. That's fine for the club, but will someone who has other opportunities agree to this? It's a bit risky and a lot would be riding on trust.

The interim manager will be out next permanent manager. Gus is not coming back. His appeal will be about who is right and wrong and whether he can have compensation for unfair dismissal. He won't be back believe me. Once that is sorted interim will become permanent.

I hope you're right. I really don't see how an interim manager could possibly be effective in the role. We don't know how long it might be for, could be a few weeks or if the appeal process drags on then it could be for months, taking us into the season. Meanwhile the players are hardly going to be busting a gut for a guy they know is only there as a temporary stopgap. They're professionals of course, but its inevitable that the ones not getting picked are going to be in a state of "meh, I'll just impress the new guy when he comes in".

I sincerely hope the interim is indeed the guy we're going to give the job to once this whole shambles has finally been resolved.

McGhee did a good job during the Withdean years on a shoestring budget, but that was some years ago. His recent record is not that great (Bristol Rovers). However if purely for a specified period to cover the length of the appeal process with a new permanent manager lined up to come in from mid July then shouldn't be a huge problem.

The only downside would be attracting players if the new manager is not known, which would place us in the position of undertaking business late, and potentially losing out on players (Spanish Dave).
