Gus Poyet reacts to his sacking on BBC television this evening
Gus Poyet has revealed he will appeal against Albion’s decision to sack him.
The Seagulls boss was informed of his dismissal by staff at the BBC while he was working as part of their team covering the Confederations Cup.
Albion’s statement revealing Poyet had been sacked – but retained the right to appeal – was published moments after his pre-game discussion on BBC 3 had ended.
He was asked for his reaction by presenter Mark Chapman at half-time.
Poyet said: “The only thing I am concentrating on is the appeal.
“I will appeal. It is the right thing to do. I cannot extend it any more because after all this i need to talk a little bit longer.
“I’ve been in the first half (of the Spain v Nigeria match) with my lawyers and they are reading that email that I have still not had myself.
“Until we go through that it is very difficult to make any comments.
“I need to read everything first but I say I will appeal because whatever they say in that email, I know myself and I want to make sure everything is clear.
“Whatever step I need to make I will make in the future.”
