I really hope this is not true and expect it to be not true but what on earth would make a player who is Albion through and through go to a club with fare fewer prospects....

It's odd. Out of our current squad of flairniacs and johnny foreigners, the one person I can't ever imagine playing for another side is Adam El-Abd. He is Mr Brighton and Hove Albion.

Sadly we have not made much of an offer to Adam. A 1 year deal is just not good enough, and don't blame him at all for looking elsewhere.
