Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm...

I wonder......

Garcia announced tomorrow and a Vicente contract on Monday.

It was the club that released Vicente, not Gus. He refused to handle the retained list. Why would the club offer him a contract now?

Is he still in Brighton then? Sorry, if this has already been discussed.

He wasn't released he was out of contract. If you believe the press he and Poyet were not best buddies and Mr V was happy in Blighty.

Technically he is the same as Dave and others.

No, Vicente, Dicker & Painter were released. Spanish Dave & El Abd were offered contracts.

Albion have extended the contracts of skipper Gordon Greer, Ashley Barnes, Peter Brezovan, Inigo Calderon and Will Hoskins – exercising one-year options in each player’s contract and extending their deals until June 2014.

Of those other players out of contract, the club has made new contract offers to Adam El-Abd and David Lopez. Meanwhile Gary Dicker, Marcos Painter and Vicente have been informed they will not be offered new deals.

Chairman Tony Bloom said, “On behalf of Brighton & Hove Albion, I would like to thank Gary, Marcos and Vicente for their efforts on behalf of the club and wish them well in their future career."

The loan agreements for Wayne Bridge, Dean Hammond and Matthew Upson have now expired. Bloom said, “I would like to thank Wayne, Dean and Matt for their efforts this season.”

Yes, but he was released because he didn't want to be here. Not while Gus was.

If Gus has gone, and some of the rumours about Vicente and his wife loving Brighton are true, who knows?

Forgive my in inaccuracies but I don't think there is anything saying that The Dagger cannot still be offered a deal.

Perhaps we didn't bother offering Vicente a contract because he made it clear he wouldn't play under Gus. Pretty damning comments in the Argus re Gus (and the club) reneging on a promise nor to exercise the extra year option, if they are true.

There were rumours that his daughter was unhappy at school and that he wouldn't socialise with the other Spanish players too. What do you believe?

I believe different things by the hour. He's gone, and we'll never see him again. But I can't wait to see him leading us into the promised land next season.

not understood the Vicente situation. his comment against Gus were pretty harsh, but shirley it was Gus who convinced him to come here in the first place.

so, put another way, what exactly went wrong and what effect did this have on the two, the team and (of course) any bearing on the current drawn out events?

Yes, Gus got him here. But they fell out. It happens.

I don't think that this had anything to do with the current events. But when Gus goes, a silver lining may be that we get to see more of the Dagger.

I also think that under a new manager we may see more of him, was he really that unfit etc....

2 very big ego's clashing in my opinion and Gus pulling rank.

According to Vicente he was fit and raring to go post December so it wasn't any issue with his fitness. Would love to see him back and I'd have imagined Oscar would be the sort of manger Vicente was referring to when he said he would consider coming back if there was a change in management.

Whatever has happened is irrelevant as far as I am concerned because if Vicente wanted to come back and play under the new manager I for one would be happy to seem him in the stripes.

Reread the Vicente article: his main gripe is that Gus wouldn't let him return to Spain last year when his daughter wasn't settling here.
