It's to try and protect the big and rich clubs in case they have a bad season is it not?

They changed the rules a few years ago when River Plate finished in the relegation zone so they could avoid them going down. Then they went down anyway a couple of years later even with the new rules. Their fans took it well, of course, and did what any disappointed football fan would do at the end of a game at home where you've just been relegated, and set their stadium on fire.

Argentinian football is mental.
