Just finished reading Richer Than God by David Conn. On the face of it the book's all about the Abu Dhabi takeover of Man City but he delves so much deeper and provides a really interesting social history of footbal, Manchester and the way our beloved game has been taken over and abused by the money grabbers of the EPL. Well worth a read, I found myslef shouting "yes" and "that's so true" a fair few times on the bus whilst reading it and must be considered quite mental by a number of my fellow commuters by now. I'd go as far to say it's as good a football book as I've read (with the obvious emotive exception of Build A Bonfire, and my personal favourite All Played Out) and when he went back to Maine Road and saw all the half finished housing developments I was welling up thinking of when I first saw the industrial park that's on our own beloved Goldstone Ground's ashes. You could do worse that seek out a copy for some summer reading folks if you've not already read it.
