ky Sports understands a host of clubs are tracking highly-rated Brighton midfielder Liam Bridcutt.

Bridcutt is regarded as one of the best players outside the Premier League and he impressed again last season as Brighton reached the play-off semi-finals.

The 24-year-old has established himself as a key member of the Seagulls side since arriving at the club in 2010 and he has recently broken into the Scotland squad.

Brighton are bracing themselves for bids for the influential midfielder after missing out on promotion.

Premier League new boys Cardiff City and Hull City as well as Championship duo Queens Park Rangers and Reading are all thought to be keeping tabs on Bridcutt's situation at the Amex Stadium.

Bridcutt still has two years to run on his contract and Brighton would be loathe to lose their star midfielder this summer.

Why would he want to go to another Championship side?

Same reason Bridge did, parachute payments mean more money to the player in wages and more chance of going up.

Might mean more money, but not more chance of going up, look how that worked out for Wolves, Blackburn and Bolton.

Good to see a few prem teams having a look; it should bump his price up a bit. He's a great player, but we could do a lot with the 4-5m that we should get for him.

Hopefully Palace will be priced out of a deal if they only want to pay 3million :lolol:

Qpr and reading lol

Presumably that's the same qpr who can afford 100k a week players and the same reading who just effortlessly beat us to wayne bridge? I don't find that funny at all, money ALWAYS talks eventually. Why play in the championship on 5-10k a week when you can play in the championship for 20k+ a week, + a juicy signing on bonus?

But Bridcutt's at a different stage of his career. if I were him I'd be looking to move to a premier league club and one a damn side bigger than Hull as well.

What a complete and utter non-story. Any Premier League or Championship club that doesn't monitor every player in the top two divisions and beyond - especially one who has impressed at international level, as Bridcutt did on his debut for Scotland, isn't doing its job. "Thought to be", "tracking" and other vague phrases reveal this for the bollocks it is. What does "tracking" mean? They're following him from hotel-room to sun-lounger on his hols? Do me a favour ...

If Bridge was interested in a "chance of going up," why didn't he cut out the middle stage and wait for a Premier League club to come in for him?

I think he will give us one more year depending on the managerial situation and what he is asked to do next season.

We can still make a bob or two as his contract runs until 2015.

A colleague at work who is a Hull City fan asked me this afternoon if Liam is really worth £6M as that figure is being bandied about over the bridge.
