Mauricio Taricco (right) and Gus Poyet have always been close
*Mauricio Taricco's suspension may have been lifted by Albion but it is hard to see him staying at the club.

* Especially if, as surely remains the case, Gus Poyet is no longer the manager.

* In the aftermath of Reading's interest in Poyet back in March Taricco told The Argus: "I think I see myself as a pair."

* The wording may have been a little clumsy but the gist of the Argentinian's remark was unmistakeable.

* Poyet and Taricco are a team, a partnership.

* The South Americans have been close friends on and off the pitch ever since they played together at Tottenham in the late 1990's.

* When Poyet became Albion's manager in November 2009 he instantly installed Taricco as his assistant.

* They are different characters and yet kindred spirits with a deep-rooted, mutual trust in each other.

* The relationship extends well beyond their working environment with Albion.

* Recently, while they were both still under suspension, the Taricco and Poyet families spent time together at the former's summer retreat in Sardinia.

* Taricco's suspension has now been revoked but the suspension of Poyet for alleged breaches of contract, together with that of first team coach Charlie Oatway, remain in place as the club's internal investigation continues.

* Albion say they are looking "forward to Mauricio's scheduled return to work following his scheduled annual leave."

* It could be a forlorn hope. There is next-to-no chance of Taricco staying at The Amex unless it is alongside Poyet.

* There is even less chance of him replacing the Uruguayan. Taricco has previously made it clear he has no interest in becoming a No.1 himself and certainly not at the expense of his soulmate.

* The prospect of Poyet kicking off next season as Albion's manager is still implausible, even though the lifting of Taricco's sanction has introduced an unexpected twist to the saga.

* The suspensions were announced simultaneously but, rather than being inextricably linked, it now appears as if Poyet, Taricco and Oatway are, in fact, being treated as different cases with some unrelated reasons connected to their punishments.
