Tomasz Kuszczak is in the Poland squad for tonight's game
Tomasz Kuszczak’s chances of international action for Poland tonight have been reduced – by a goalkeeper who is not officially in the squad.
Jerzy Dudek will start tonight’s friendly for Poland against Liechstenstein ahead of Albion star Kuszczak, Arsenal’s Wojciech Szczeszny and Southampton’s Artur Boruc.
Dudek, 40, won the last of his 59 caps to date back in 2009 but has been handed a farewell appearance in his home city of Krakow.
The Poles are warming up for a World Cup qualifier against Moldova on Friday.
Dudek will be applauded off the pitch at some stage and Boruc – favourite to start against Moldova – is likely to go on in his place.
Szczesny is currently No. 2 in the pecking order, ahead of Kuszczak, having lost top spot after Euro 2012.
Meanwhile Albion skipper Gordon Greer has shaken off a bout of tonsillitis as he prepares for a possible Scotland debut in Croatia on Friday.
Albion boss Gus Poyet is likely to be linked with the manager’s job at Wigan, which is set to become vacant after Everton agreed compensation with Latics for Roberto Martinez.
Wigan have already received more than 30 applications for the position.
