Albion skipper Gordon Greer is in the running for a Scotland debut.
The centre-back is set to play some part in the World Cup qualifier against Croatia in Zagreb on Friday. And he is believed to stand a great chance of starting the match.
His Seagulls colleague Liam Bridcutt has been ruled out of the game through injury.
Scotland got together at their Mar Hall base near Glasgow Airport over the weekend. Serious training kicks off this morning.
Greer, a first time call-up at the age of 32, is being seen as a possible solution to Scotland’s problems in central defence.
Gary Caldwell will be ruled out of the game by a hip injury and neither Grant Hanley (Blackburn) nor Andy Webster (Hearts) have totally convinced.
Christophe Berra (Wolves) has dropped down the pecking order.
Greer delayed his summer holiday to be part of the squad after being assured he stood a genuine chance of being part of future plans if he impresses.
Assistant Scotland boss and former Albion manager Mark McGhee said: “He has been part of a team that has had the best defensive record in the Championship.”
