OK, how easy would it be to pop the windscreen out of a hired van and then replace it without any damage?

I know I'd need an expert but is it doable?

It's for a film shoot.

it's doable but you need someone very experienced and be prepared that it may still crack. Don't try it yourself! Good mate of mine may be able to help :)

If there isn't too much trim you should be OK. Get a clear view of the screen, peel a foot or so of the rubber seal to one side, then while sitting on a front seat with your socked feet actually up on the bit of screen near where you have peeled the seal, push with a uniform pressure, and the screen should pop out, hopefully. Replace the screen by putting waxed string around the seal, which you would have put around the screen and put the whole shebang into the apeture, and then pull the string inside the cab, and it should pull the seal back into place inside the apeture

Are you filming what's known as a 'PORNO'?

As a vehicle technician who has worked in vehicle glazing for nearly 20 years, you've strayed into my environment here.

Yes most modern vans/ vehicles do have ' bonded' front screens, due in part to the use of airbags. Don't even contemplate pushing it out with your feet.

Most screens can be removed and refitted, although glass by its nature is a fragile substance and in wrong hands breakage percentage can increase.

If you wish to talk further, check out Fastline autoglazing's website. We're an independent company based in hove, who cover the Sussex area.

Should be able to explain further any potential costs and savings.
