People really need to chillax about The Major's attendance threads. Have none of you ever been to a pantomime before?

A nice bit of South London
Seems like the majority want to redevelop Selhurst into two-tier 40,000 capacity, as Boris and local residents won't permit a new ground in place of the existing athletic stadium in Crystal Palace Park. No need to trawl through their banal posts now.....

Oh yeah, we are in a position to attempt to take the piss out of our arch rivals that made us look like twats in our own backyard before they went on to secure a shitload of money and a place in the richest league in the world. Just shut up you bitter, deluded tosser.

here and there
Don't see a problem. They will get much larger crowds in a decent stadium same as us.

I very much doubt that. They have the problem of local london clubs to contend with. Their attendance is not so affected by the ground given the capacity they have and the very cheap tickets on offer. They may boost toward 30k in the premiership but would struggle to pull 20k in the championship with a new ground. There are simply so many other choices and previously defined allegances for them to contend with.

Our situation was and is just too diffetent to draw parallels.

The dilemma is redeveloping a stadium where there are several other clubs in a 20 mile radius. CPFC2010 have said they are only looking after the club until someone comes along and buys it , if they decide to spend millions on redevelopment will they be forced down the road of becoming long term owners ? Modernisation will also mean regular maintenance and upkeep costs have to be kept under consideration instead of letting things fall by the wayside to save a few bob.

Parrish said on Talksport yesterday that Palace had the most densely populated catchment area of any Club in the English Leagues. Croydon & Bromley have close to 1 million residents living within 5 miles of Selhurst - which is just short of the total population of Sussex. Their gates should be huge which makes their current attendances even harder to explain. Build it and they will come - don't think so for Palace.

So do we. The difference is in Sussex the fans don't actually go to Chelsea/Arsenal/Tottenham games so instead have taken up the option of an interest-free DD season ticket at the Amex. One bad season will see the novelty wear off and our average will slip to around the 15,000 mark.
