Records that you loved but can't bear to hear anymore

The following post made me think about this:

Six Music with Lauren Laverne? If they EVER play 'My Sharona' again I am going to throw our DAB radio through the kitchen window! aARRGGHH!!!!

I know exactly what the poster means. Some tracks you have heard so often on the radio that you can't stand them anymore - pleasure fatigue through over-exposure.

I would see his 'My Sharona' and add 'Love Shack' by the B52's, Anything by Queen or Abba and Edwynn Collins' 'Never Met A Girl Like You Before'

There are probably many, many others.......

Shaddup You Face. Loved it in 1981, but then I was only 11. Makes me cringe now.
Ditto the Birdie Song

Plenty of broken records on here I'd like to never have to hear again.

I absolutely adore My Sharona, it's probably my favourite song of all time. I'm not sure I can envisage a point where I'm fed up of it.

Here are some great songs I really don't care if I hear again though. Seven Nation Army - White Stripes, The Hurricane - Bob Dylan, The Chain - Fleetwood Mac, Parklife - Blur, Candle In The Wind - Elton John, Anarchy In The UK - Sex Pistols.

I'm sure there are plenty of others. Overplaying stuff sucks.

If the DJs in The Coopers play California Soul once more I swear I'll do time.

My other half has to be restrained when that Daft Punk ditty comes on the wireless. :wrong:

Anything played on Heart as a rule. "Empire State Of Mind" by Alicia Keys and "California Gurls" by Katy Perry would cause to me to run screaming from the room if it were not for the case that Heart only ever features on the car radio when the Young Pottings are on board.

First of all, great thread.

Second of all, some brilliant suggestions already.

I'll second/third:

Teenage Kicks
Seven Nation Army
Love Shack

And add:

The Verve - Bittersweet symphony
Blur - The Universal
Fatboy Slim - Praise you (which upsets me most)

My brain is stuck in a 90s mode at the moment, sorry. I'll be back with more later.

Yes. Me too. Hate it now. Add also Teenage Kicks by the Undertones. Too many wet Saturdays at Withdean listening to Attila play this I'm afraid.

In time this may all change. I'm no fan of Cathy Dennis but I can only assume that Tony Millard was obsessed as whenever I hear her I have a Proustian rush that spirits me back to half time at The Goldstone.
