From this division, have all been British..

Mackay, Bruce, Holloway. McDermott, Adkins, Allardyce, Warnock, Lambert and Rodgers.....Interesting stat don't you think. Just proves all this foreign manager stuff is a load of old crap really, especially in a league like the Championship.

Errr he has never managed West Brom ......... has he??

Think he meant Di Matteo.

Either way, as a ratio there are hardly any foreign managers in the Championship.

Budget size tends to get clubs promoted, that is the best correlate with performance.

This thread wouldn't exist if the playoff final coin had flipped in Zola's Watford favour

But it didn't did it. The British boys wanted it more. That's the point.

So basically, in a league where the VAST majority of managers are British, British managers do quite well?

What a revelation.

Anyone who doesn't think our lack of a bit of backbone and fighting spirit within the squad, is not a major reason(in fact it is the reason) we haven't won a game after going a goal behind, since two years ago by the time the league starts again, is a fool. That is down to a lot of lightweight foreign players, who are very happy bunnies when it's going their way, but quickly go missing when the chips are down. You will not win anything without a bit of grit in the side.

Presumably said grit can, in your opinion, only be supplied by tried-and-tested English/British players? Do you lay any of the blame for a lack of fighting spirit/backbone at the feet of the British likes of Barnes, Greer, Bridge, Upson, Crofts, Buckley, Hammond and Bridcutt or is it all the fault of those nasty foreigners?

I guess the "you won't win anything without a bit of grit" theory would explain all those trophies won by the English national team against those non-gritty foreigners if nothing else.

Out of the players you listed, I wouldn't say any of them are a real roll your sleeves up and rally the troops type. Barnes is just a stroppy git, Greer blames everyone else, Upson and Bridge aren't are players and neither are really known for being vocal, although that may be a bit hard on Upson. Buckley, don't make me laugh, a fart would knock him over. Bridcutt is not physical. And Crofts,,,,,ahh yes Crofts, Poyet's number one summer target this time last year. What happened to that player that played for Norwich and us last time???...I think Crofts will be like a new signing next season, it wouldn't surprise me if someone came in and gave him the armband.
