Albion’s out-of-contract stars are weighing up their options as the wait goes on to see what the future holds for their manager.
Defender Adam El-Abd and midfielder David have yet to sign one-year deals they were offered by the club at the end of the season.
Local boy El-Abd has been a first-teamer with Albion for a decade while Spanish midfielder David admitted immediately after the season finished that he would like to return after a successful first campaiagn with the Seagulls.
David, who was signed by Gus Poyet last summer, has since gone back to Spain where he could attract interest after their top-flight season finishes next Saturday.
But he is known to have enjoyed his first experience of England on and off the pitch.
The club are maintaining a diplomatic silence over managerial matters after suspending Poyet, Mauricio Taricco and Charlie Oatway more than a week ago.
Stoke City would be interested in talking to Poyet if, as is widely expected, he leaves the Seagulls but any such developments remain on the back burner.
The Argus understands reports suggesting Stoke have already approached Mark Hughes – who would be an unpopular choice with many fans – for the job are premature.
Meanwhile Ian Holloway has warned the rest of the Championship that Crystal Palace will be stronger next term, even if they lose Monday’s play-off final againt Watford.
The Palace boss said: “We’ve got to move forward. I’ll have some new people.”
