I was there for the Euros last Summer - is a great City...the old town is very nice but I would recommend staying in the more leftfield Eastern part of the city (to the north of the stadium). This is the oldest part which managed to avoid most of the bombing during WW2 and has a number of hidden away bars and pubs that seem to stay open all night selling a ubiquitous number of vodkas. I would recommend the bars that seem to be state run and subsidised - there is one in the old town on one of the main roads - these bars are very popular with the locals and are dirt cheap - less than a pound for a beer and the obligatory shot of vodka...they are not the classiest of establishments however become quite raucous in the evenings....the one word of warning is that the Poles are a tough bunch and do not take too kindly to groups of English louts.....I saw possibly the worst cases of football related violence of my life when Russia played Poland in Warsaw last Summer.....
