Does anyone know much about zoning law? Am living in a rented house and the mrs is setting up a home hair dressing buisness. The landlord has agreed as long as the zoning laws allow it? Can anyone enlighten me?
Cheers.

The easiest way to find out is to ask your council - they'll be able to tell you pretty much immediately. There's a BUT. If you do ask, you'll have alerted them to the possibility that you are intending something so inspectors may pay a visit in a few months. If your property is in an entirely residential area it's unlikely that the zoning will allow it; if it's in a mixed residential/retail area, it might.

Cheers it's in a estate. Other than a paper shop and takeaway a ten minute walk away its all residential. We haven't signed for the property so it's not official yet. Doesn't look promising but we never know.

On the basis of what you've said, my guess is that the zoning would be against you. You could just take the risk, but if caught it could turn reasonably nasty...
