Tornados in Oklahoma City

Watching the TV coverage at the minute – pretty grim, at least 51 dead including 20 children at schools. It looks like the tornados became extremely powerful very quickly giving the inhabitants very little warning.

Makes you realize how trivial some of the current issues with the Albion really are in the big scheme of things.

Just put Sky news on after seeing your thread. Devastating. Incredible to think a force of nature can do such a thing.

At least 91 dead now, very depressing.

I'm in grad school for meteorology (and used to study in Norman - the town south of Moore) so I was watching this all online earlier. The tornado went from nothing to massive in no more than 2 minutes, and was moving massively slowly compared to normal storms. Plus it just sat west of the town gathering strength before barreling into the town, massively unfortunate circumstances, especially given the number of schools it hit. Forecasts and warnings were spot on though, needs to be better ways of making sure people get somewhere safe.

Even worse that it's destroyed almost the exact same path as in 1999 (and 2003).

Been in and out of the basement here in Norman, OK. Airport is out of commission and power, was supposed to be flying back tomorrow. Tornadoes have been all around the metro OKC area and cars are totalled around the highway. Reports of a few deaths so far, let's hope this is the end but the storm continues to move east.

I'm just watching it on CNN - looks very serious and scary - tornados, hail and flash flooding. Glad you are OK - stay safe.
