difference is ... we missed out on £120 million of potential monies, whereas arsenal have just secured an absolute SHITLOAD of monies by securing a champions league spot.

Of course that plays a part, but in all honesty the monies is the most important part. It facilitates not only sporting success but also community actions by clubs, the more money a club has to spare the more it can benefit its fans.
