Nice thought but VvD's agent seems to have touted him around since he was first linked with us so he is probably on several other clubs radar too. Would he fancy a year in the Championship?

Can't say that. Surely it would depend on Poyet's replacement. Presumably he's been scouted and targeted by the club rather than just Gus and therefore it makes little difference at this point as long as he feels we have prospects. If (though it seems unlikely to me) we landed someone like RDM, then having a CL winner in charge might appear just as appealing as a manager who's won League One.
