Depends on what systems your work use. If they monitor web traffic and / or use a proxy server then some details will be retained. If you PC has a direct link to the internet as such ( i.e. no monitoring or proxy ) then the only information retained will be on your PC such as cookies, browsing history etc.

EDIT - if it's personal then I'd always suggest using a non-work PC.

When you access your account do you use HTTPS (SSL - e.g. little padlock on the web browser) ?

If so you should be relatively safe (assuming your workplace doesn't intercept SSL traffic)

I sometimes use my laptop or more often my phone as the work wifi is faster than 3g

Possibly, but extremely unlikely I'd have thought. Depends more on your line of work, as in how likely they are to have anything that in place.

This is not always the case your IT department might have software which takes screen shots and monitor key strokes.....it's unlikely your company will have this unless your working for a company that deals with highly sensitive data or are just really paranoid!

More a question about my iPhone on company wifi
Than usin company pc

Without the detail of your company's systems it's impossible to say for sure but about 75% of companies put in monitoring software for web access. A majority of those only use it to block web sites they don't want you using at work - porn, chat sites etc. Of the few that do setup in depth monitoring they are usually corporates or companies handling sensitive information - government, government contractors, defence, financial services etc.

Have you signed an Acceptable Usage Policy ? If so then it might mention if web traffic is monitored. If not then you've got a good chance that your company won't have monitoring in place if they can't be bothered to tell people what is acceptable.

email is almost certainly retained on the server or archived off to some retrievable storage facility. most companies have to do this to ensure compliance with various regulations and its easier/cheaper to do everyone than those people who definatly needs to be retained, than try and be selective (and risk getting it wrong). EDIT. missed the gmail bit, so its just going to be HTTP web traffic.

tracking web use is much more open question, but as a minimum expect that sites and sessions are logged incase they need to follow up something (ie complaint you use dodgy sites, spend too much time on web), but not activly monitoring it.
