Liam Bridcutt gets instructions from Gus Poyet
Liam Bridcutt is convinced Albion got a good result at Palace last night – but has warned they still face a battle if they are to reach Wembley.
Bridcutt was man-of-the-match as the first leg of the play-off semi-final ended all square.
The Seagulls had to withstand some nervous moments in the second half after controlling the first.
Bridcutt said: “To come here and get the draw is a massive result. Obviously we wanted the win but it wasn’t to be.
“We always knew it would be tough to come here and play the football we want to play.
“But we did really well, we held our own and now we take it back to ours and hopefully get the result.
“We knew it would be tough because the pitch is a little bit smaller than we are used to and we knew they would work hard to put us under pressure.
“But nothing changed for us. We all knew what we had to do.”
Albion have won seven of their last ten matches at The Amex, including a 3-0 rout of the Eagles in March.
But Bridcutt warned: “I don’t think the job is done at all. We know it will be hard at our place but we have just got to go with that same winning mentality and see if we can score the goals and win the game.
“We are looking forward to Monday now and ready to go again.”
