OK, so here's the deal. I'm knocking off work early and mincing down to Haywards Heath station to get the 14.13 up to Victoria, whereupon I intend to wile away the remainder of the afternoon liquidising my assets, before boarding a train back to Bonfire Central for some match thats going off tonight.

Is an "Off-Peak Travelcard" going to suffice ? Bearing in mind I'm going to be travelling a couple of stops back to Thornton Heath during what would probably be termed as a peak time, I'm guessing this won't be an option...Shall I just get a straightforward return to Vicky ?

I prostrate myself before the train gurus of NSC for advice, and humbly offer my thanks in advance.

I thought Off Peak was valid for any train not arriving at a London terminal before 9.30am. If I'm right, you should be fine.

Thornton Heath is Zone 4, so I think you will be OK anytime. Off-peak only has a restriction travelling up in the mornings too.

I reckon that if the collective wisdom of NSC went on Mastermind, it's chosen specialist subject would be 'Train Travel', above even BHAFC.

Yup says valid from 9.30 here.

Off-Peak Day Travelcards are valid for travel from 09:30 Monday to Friday, any time at weekends and on public holidays, and until 04:29 the following morning

As for the Super Off-Peak you can't use it between 16:15 and 19:15, although it's unclear if that's just on the trains or on TFL services as well.

Yup the only peak time is if you change or end your journey in London before 10am on a weekday.
