OT - Antivirus software advice please

Looking to ditch my Norton 360 subscription for my home use (the usual; a couple of messageboards, online shopping, banking, surfing porn). First question; is this a good move? If so, second question; what free antivirus software would you recommend?

If you have windows 8 or 7 windows defender (security essentials) is perfectly adequate nowadays.
Malwarebytes is good for spyware.

I haven't had a virus or spyware problem on my PC for years but then I don't browse any dodgy sites other than for football streams.

I am on Windows 7 and use AVG free as an antivirus and Private Firewall 7 as a firewall.

If you have windows 8 the suite it comes with s perfectly fine. (Widows security essentials?) You need to D/L it form Microsoft but it is fine

Panda seems ok. Avg is fine, uses a few more resources and very occasionally causes BSOD on 64 bit machines. MSE definitely worth a shout

As an ignorant web user; what are deemed as really dodgy habits? Is it porn? what other genres of browsing should be used with care?

I've always wanted to ask this question, but also I bumped into 'lemon party' the other day just trying to buy some plasters (don't do it kids)

Advanced SystemCare 6 comes with 10bit uninstaller brilliant for getting rid of any programs and any bits left hiding, free and pro version available too.

actually porn is pretty clean, at least the regular stuff is. er, so i'm told. software downloads, cracks and warez are the main thing to avoid, also ii've found some footie streaming sites to flag up loads of alerts. general rule of thumb if you're looking for somthing thats strictly speaking illegal, be wary those site will be breaking other laws.

i use AVG out of habit. not sure i'd tust Windows provided tools to update regularly enough.
