To my mind, you need something wistful and slightly epic, to leave you thinking "What an album that is".

My choices would be:

"Everyone's a VIP to someone" by the Go! Team (from "Thunder Lightning Strike")
"Fin" by Pavement (from "Brighten The Corners")
"Fillmore Jive" by Pavement (from "Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain")

Great selection.

Lately by British Sea Power (from The Decline Of British Sea Power) would be my choice

Decided decades ago. Never to be surpassed. A Day In The Life on Sgt Pepper. Woke up, got out of bed, dragged a comb across my head.....

To be honest, i've never listened to your first choice in its entirety - my concentration span isn't what it used to be. Strange, because i love the album. Ok then - 17 minutes and 41 seconds here i come. doesn't it take about 7 minutes to warm up??

The Tengo tune does go on a bit. You have to be in the right mood for it. (I take it you haven't heard "Sunsquashed"?)
