Supporters are encouraged to view a new exhibition of work that is officially being unveiled at the Amex Stadium this evening, and will be on permanent exhibition in the East Stand lower concourse from the Wolves game on Saturday.
Brighton-based football artist Rob Caddick and the Brighton & Hove Virtual School for Children in Care led the project combining the young people’s shared interest in both football and art, undertaken in association with Brighton & Hove Albion and Albion in the Community.
The work builds upon Albion’s ground-breaking introduction of original artwork into the Amex Stadium concourses.
Caddick told seagulls.co.uk, “The club’s commitment to the community could not be exemplified better than this project supporting young people who are literally in the care of the Brighton & Hove.
“The young people involved ranged between 10 and 18 years of age and came from ten different primary and secondary schools in and around Brighton & Hove.”
The project which was run over six sessions all based at the Amex Stadium and involved an official tour, and included a presentation by club photographer Paul Hazlewood on the stadium big screens, taking photos at the Middlesbrough game and four two-hour twilight sessions developing individual ideas working in the East Stand classroom spaces.
Caddick added, “The work itself involved a documentary photography component and then the development of ideas using their photographs into original artwork pieces using pen, pencil, pastel and collage.”
