Brennan Dickenson grabbed the only goal as Albion’s development squad finished their league campaign with a 1-0 win at Bristol City.Owing to Charlton’s victory earlier in the week Luke Williams’s side knew they could not make the play-offs prior to kick-off but still put in a determined display.
The only goal came on 69 minutes as Dickenson got the better of his man and expertly glanced Charlie Oatway’s free kick home.
With the league season now complete the development squad will be turning their attentions on the Sussex Senior Cup Final, and Williams admits the lengthy gap between the fixtures is not ideal as he praised his sides attitude over the course of the season.
“It will be a difficult couple of weeks but we are trying to get a couple friendlies to fill the gap but we have got some new players and youngsters in the squad which will freshen training up, so they will want to impress and that will help with the intensity of training.
“The boys have got themselves in a situation where they were crushed against Swansea at the Amex in December and we had to quickly turn things around, but now they are in a position where they want to win, they don’t want to lose another game and they only play to win.
“I was very pleased with the game, we looked in control which is a key point for us. We only scored one but looked like scoring every time and we got in front of their keeper for five times, and it was one of the best performances in terms of our reaction to losing the ball.”
