Poyet would love to secure home advantage in the second leg of the semi-final.

He sent on Vicente in the quest for victory yesterday at Leeds, where Albion won 2-1.

He added: “It was the game to put ourselves in the play-offs. We couldn’t not take a risk.

“We couldn’t just be happy with a draw because the difference between being fourth and fifth is amazing “Normally the play-offs are tight. You might need to play extra-time.

“In the second game everyone has to throw everything, it’s like a final.

“The first game is sometimes controlled so it is better to have that craziness at home, not away from home.

“We’ll see. So far it is an achievement and the reaction of the fans was spectacular.

“We went to say ‘Thank you’ to them but at the same time we didn’t want to be unfair to the Leeds fans and stay too long on the pitch.”
