Bomber Command flypast - lovely day for it

101 Squadron were based in our village from 1943 . The Lancaster does a fly past on the 1st Sunday in Sept . Lovely sight and sound .

Round the back of the church by the pond at East Dean was a WWII landing strip used by damaged aircraft that needed to make emergency landings having struggled back to Blighty across the channel.

Thanks for the tip Barry. My 89 year old father is ex Bomber Command. He didn't realise it was happening. It's just made his day.
