Seriously mate if your no good at carpentry, whatever you do, dont try and build a treehouse. Especially as I take it that it is for your kids.

Agreed. If something went wrong you would never forgive yourself.

A tree house needs a skilled tradesman to get this project right.

Don't do it mate, seriously!

Such sensible people. I built a tree house with my brother when I was 9, it slept 5 people, and would still be there today if the tree wasn't chopped down.

If you're clueless with woodwork, then you can't do it, but all you need is a friend that knows what they're doing. Design it, use the right materials, and build it. Simples.

Some wetness on this thread . Go for it mate. As a kid we all built our own.

Get a tree where you can wedge a flat base in so it cant collapse no matter what then work from there

I appreciate the warnings, iv been thinking about the risks and I am wondering weather it's a good idea!, it could be dangerous, I have thought about how I will build the tree house, it will only be 3 foot from the ground, I will use concrete to burry the posts, and i will use light wood to build the walls and roof, I do a fair bit of carpentry at work but I am no Jesus Christ! Also I didn't know about planning permission!

I might just buy the kids a shed......
