Nathaniel Chalobah celebrates after hitting Watford's winner at Leicester tonight
Albion can virtually ensure their play-off place by avoiding defeat at Leeds tomorrow.
Leicester’s 2-1 defeat at home to Watford tonight means the Foxes can no longer catch Gus Poyet’s men.
Eighth-placed Nottingham Forest can still get to 70 points, one more than the Seagulls currently have.
But Albion’s goal difference is plus 23 compared to Forest’s plus four.
A win at Elland Road would remove any lingering doubts for Albion – as would dropped points for Forest at Millwall.
Troy Deeney and a wonder strike from the impressive Nathaniel Chalobah put Watford in charge at the King Power Stadium.
The Hornets are now just one point behind second-placed Hull City, despite Harry Kane’s reply for Leicester.
Hull, whose fans had the Champagne on ice this evening, can secure promotion by winning at Barnsley tomorrow.
Albion were seven points behind Leicester at the turn of the year.
