British Pie Awards

For those following Jonathan Agnew on Twitter, you'll know it's been the British Pie Awards in Melton Mowbray this week. It's THE main pie competition in the country.

Anyhoo, there's a number of categories, and needless to say, Piglet's Pantry entered, among other things, the Football Pie Category.

Happy to say they won 1st, 2nd AND 3rd prize in that category, so congratulations to Jo and her team.

I know you care about these things.

No way is this is intended to disparage Piglets in any way, I think they're great.

But there ain't a whole lot of competition!

But even assuming 80% of the other entrants are the usual standard of football pies, coming 1st, 2nd AND 3rd is a great achievement - well done.

Theres 91 other league clubs who could be in the competition, plus the non league, plus I guess the MTLs too.

There arenth though are there, as 57 of those will have Pukka Pies and 34 will have Peters Pies.

All I was told was the the winner was the steak & Stilton (only available in 1901, apparently). Don't know Nos.2 and 3.

Don't know if she ever had a shop, but the pies are made in a small unit in Worthing.

I know it goes against the rules on here and is considered an act of treason to voice it but, I can't stand the bloody pies.

Somebody with the same view as me as I find them too dry and think they should have more gravy in them but it is all a case of personal choice and taste.

Had one at the Doncaster game, found it very uninspiring and overpriced for what it was and haven't had one since. Expect that makes me a bad fan!
