They are still getting decent home gates though, looks as if away teams have been struggling to get over there

I wonder if Matt Le Tissier is playing tonight / on Friday / Saturday / Sunday?

Interesting to see that four teams seem to have opted for a trip to the Channel Islands over the early May bank holiday weekend - Dorking, Hartley Wintney, Epsom & Ewell and Farnham Town

All paid for by the league's sponsors I expect.
This was certainly the case when I was playing rugby for Cranleigh back in the 90's and we were in the same league as Jersey. The sponsors (of the league and Jersey RFC) were Hill Samuel who also owned the airline we used - Jersey European. A great social weekend - but we got a "Blackpool like" stuffing.

It's often fog closing the airport I believe. It was closed again today for that reason, I recall hearing them saying it on the Radio 2 travel news earlier.

I used to play in the South East Counties women's league. Then the Isle of Wight team applied to join. First time round, it was all a bit of a novelty to go over there to play. After that, the realisation that the IoW is actually largely a dump, and the hassle of having to get up earlier on a Sunday morning, trek down to Portsmouth (never good), and arse about waiting for ferries, rapidly lost its attraction. The League did not pay for any of it, although I think they did initially have a rule- soon scrapped- that the other team had to pick us up in Cowes and drive us to the ground.

I bet that's a cracking away day !!:drink::drink:

I think their fans see coming over here every other week as that. They played Crowborough in one of the early rounds of the vase and they brought about 60 fans and BBC Gurnsey so they could beam the game back to the island.

Plenty of money over there so can see them progressing up the pyramid quite rapidly.

Tunbridge Wells opponents in the Vase final Spennymoor are also in a similar predicament. Complicated by the fact that they are fighting with Darlington for the Northern League title

As I mentioned on the Whitehawk thread, there is far to much football played in those lower tiers.

Farnham's game was called off at last minute ,they had already travelled and were not happy.Guernsey had played on the Friday night and it rained so waterlogged the pitch for Farnham's Saturday Game.

They have been promoted, despite 20 games in the last 36 days.

They should join Peacehaven in Ryman South along with Burgess Hill Worthing and other Sussex clubs.
