Obviously attendances are really boring etc etc, but Simon Jordan is just patronising Posh's chairman on the Footballers' Football Show. Simon explains that Palace are not able to make a profit like Peterborough because a club like Palace expect to be in the Premier League:
'You've got 7,000 crowds, Palace have got 20,000 crowds.'

Actually the averages are 7955 and 16987, and that's only because Palace have had their best season in years and done Groupon deals.

And the con has worked - Simon's convinced David Jones (Sky's host) that Millwall's average attendances are around 11k, compared to Crystal Palace's which is up in the 20s (and he means the 20,000s)

I really like that man.

I like what he does and how he does it.

Long may it continue. :lolol:

Was a good show tonight - and you have to give credit to Millwall chief exec Andy Ambler (sp?), how he got a word in edgeways with those two motormouths Jordan and McAnthony at the table was a minor miracle.

That said, although Jordan is orange, with very silly hair for a man his age, and a Palace **** to his core, it was good listening and he occasionally talks some sense. You can tell he is very bitter about all the £40m or so he put in, and the big one when it came (Zaha, £17m) went to the new lot.

But I actually think Palace were right to make a very loud if ultimately unsuccesful protest about that new rule over compensation for youth players, and I don't think it's a question that was ever adequately answered by our own club.

The process was outrageous, with all Championship clubs told to sign this right now or you will lose £2m a season, no negotiation. One of the more scandalous episodes in recent years.

You could tell the Millwall chief exec was very uncomfortable that they had voted to accept the new arrangement, but they had no choice with players on three-year deals. It was guns to the head time, and risk going bust if they stood up for principles.

More than having a go at individual clubs for doing what they had to, shame on the Premier League clubs for forcing it through, and the Football League for not defending its members interests better collectively.

But you're forgetting the empty swathes of terracing * that abound at Selhurst.

*They used to be much fuller when there were more fickle plastics there in the premier league. *

He couldn't make his bitterness more obvious if he sucked a lemon every time the new owners were mentioned. He's wrong about the Zaha money though, the new owners haven't pocketed it for a nice profit, they're running the club at a loss, so who is he to say they should be spending more of their own money to keep the fickle fans happy. If someone with more money wants to come along and support the club I expect CPFC2010 will let them.

Of course.

So another £40m investment bites the dust at Palace. Jordan was a little cuter than Mark Goldberg, who piled his £40m in but Ron Noades saw him coming.
£80 million...bloody hell...lot of dosh.

You can tell (bar the original comment) somethings not quite right with the World at the moment when Simon Jordan & Darragh MacAnthony start talking sense.
