Tomasz Kuszczak is convinced Albion have the experience to cope with play-off pressure.
But their star goalkeeper admits life will be tough on the road as they chase three wins from the last five Championship games.
The Seagulls aim for a first away win in five attempts when they visit Middlesbrough on Saturday.
Kuszczak is one of several former top-flight players in the Albion ranks.
He is unwilling to draw too many comparisons with his title-chasing days at Manchester United but admitted: “From the pressure perspective, with every game you get closer to the end of the season you feel you can’t make mistakes.
“There were some games at United you had to win if you wanted to win the title. Everyone knew it and everyone did well in that.
“Obviously here at Brighton you can see we have some experience.
“We have some players from the Premier League, some players from the Championship who have years of experience in this division. We deal well with pressure. But to fight for the title and to fight for a play-off position is a little bit of a different story.”
Albion will be out of the top six when they kick off at the Riverside if Leicester beat Birmingham tomorrow.
They will target the club's first win on Teesside since 1985 before going to Peterborough on Tuesday.
Kuszczak added: “Sometimes when we go away we have to play on not the best pitches, which is difficult for us.
“At home we get the best support in the league and that helps massively.”
