Who the hell uses 118 numbers? Google gives you more info and its free, why pay 30+p a min and 80p connection charge?
The adverts are all over TV and radio and annoy me greatly, but I cant think of a single reason why any sane person would pay to access free info.
Please NSC enlighten me.

apparently only 76% of adults in the uk have broadband, so the rest are probably still using directory enquires to search for their PENNY FARTHINGS

At least BT seem to have finally taken the hint and stopped issuing every household in the land with an annual six inch thick phone book that you might look one number up in, on a good year.

Have never, ever, called Directory Enquiries or any of the 118 numbers.

On this very valid subject, would the same question not apply to porn mags, by the way?

I'm no expert by any means, but surely the market for such gentlemen's publications must have keeled over and died the moment the internet became widespread, even more so when broadband kicked in? Yet I still see plenty on the top shelf in local newsagents and (particularly) petrol stations. I came to the conclusion a while ago that it must be just truck drivers buying them, but even they can get internet access in their cabs now, so I'm baffled.

I use 118500 2 or 3 times a month, normally when I'm driving (work) and need a number, I've got the number in my contacts list, handsfree voice activation, solves me the problem of having to stop and Bing, or writing a number down.

Have you tried using 118707, which is the same thing but half the price, only they don't advertise it?

I did not know that, I just tried it, it works fine, but does not text you the number, nor offer to connect you, so not ideal when driving.
