But, when a team is doing well, they have more people follow them, so higher attendances of opposition fans is also an indication of those teams doing well, which of course means they will be harder to beat. Teams in bad form, struggling are going to bring fewer fans.

Really does show we have had some shit away followings to the Amex this season. the only thing that i dont like about this league is its full of teams North of London.

This. On average we have a much longer journey than any other team in the league.

Surely this is cause and effect the wrong way around. Better teams tend to have bigger away followings.

Reading QPR and Villa, coming down.

Hull, Cardiff and Bolton going up (I'm not going there!)

Blackburn, Huddersfield, and Barnsley going down, with

Bournemouth, Yeovil and Swindon coming up, should sort that out.

Not quite true though is it . Cardiff (1st) & Hull (2nd) both took less than 1000 to the Amex whereas Sheff Weds, Millwall & Leeds all lingering in bottom half of league had more than 1000.

Are the team intimidated by big away followings ?

Nor is it quite true that the higher the away attendance the worse the result. We beat palace and Wednesday, but drew against Blackburn and Ipswich. But you allow for anomalies in your theory, so should allow for them in mine.

Attendances are affected by team form, distance, kick off time, school holidays, number of matches in succession, etc. Whatever pattern you draw has to factor this in as well, which means there will be some that don't fit the pattern (whether it's you're more away fans = worse result, or my better form = more away fans + tougher opponent).
