What a great day that was Geordies joining us with GOSBTS as us getting promoted kept Sunderland down. I had a Mk1 escort and drove up there then had bricks thrown at us as we came back through Gateshead. Left Ferring at about 6.00am Saturday and arrived back there about 6.00am Sunday.

Kenneth Wolstenholme commentating on The Albion winning promotion, isn't that great? Lovely stuff :)

It was his last ever one before he retired after a distinguished career, I think. He did make a comeback but it didn't work out.

Well done you! I was going to drive up too but rudely postponed by the birth of our first daughter, how inconsiderate of her! Bless her - She's Albion through and through. :albion2:

We got back Monday night, watched Not the Nine O,clock news and then went to a party up the Carioca club in Worthing. Never made work on Tuesday.
I,m so glad I lived through those Albion days.

That was In the dark days. He'll be jumping on the bandwagon now.
That interview WAS in the dark days! Mullery mentions Horton being the manager of Oxford which means it was filmed around 1990. Plus they all look so young!

I've seen the Newcastle goals loads of times obviously, but I don't think I've ever seen that TV clip with the scenes at the end, and I hadn't realised that Kenneth Wolstenholme was the commentator. Still never get bored with a) seeing action from those days, and b) talking about it constantly, I'm sure much to the annoyance of all the youngsters.

No, the REAL dark days.

Lawrenson wasn't exactly vocal when it came to Archer or Falmer. In fact, he told ManxSeagull at an event in the IoM, to "Forget Falmer, it's never going to happen".

me too
they were great times and some of those who went on the historic day are not with us any longer
if I could pick one player to play like then and be in the team now it would be
Nobby the man is a legend

Oh most definetly G. Player of the season when your centre forward scores 36 says it all about the man. God I wish we had him just in front of Bridcutt now.

That was more of a Lawro prediction than a statement of whether he enjoyed his time at the Albion.
