Have to agree. We'd be top without a doubt. Scary thing is he's just finding his feet but look at him, he's got the wow factor about him. Next season then he'll be a joy to watch!

More to the point: Pretty telling that the manager's best decisions are forced upon him against his better nature like a) treating the Palace game seriously b) treating the FA Cup seriously c) playing two wingers and a big man up front.

OK, the manager signed that big man up front, and full credit for that, but any other manager would have signed similar and made more use of both mercurial wingers who are the best in the division instead of giving them walk-on parts on 70 minutes.

Have said we should always start with wingers and like you say instead of bit time performances. Just imagine if we still had Noone to replace Buckley or Lua Lua. Frightening.

We wouldn't be too far from the top this season anyway, if it wasn't for last minute goals conceded and missed penalties

Bollox, Poyet quite clearly said he tried to get Ulloa in the Summer, citizen issues stopped it. He has been waiting for this one and so far proved right. Only thing forced on him was two wingers against Palace.

So you think his best decisions have been
a) treating the Palace game seriously
 He treats every game league seriously.
b) treating the FA Cup seriously
Good for money, but distracting and an injury risk when we're pushing for promotion, not sure it's worth it to be honest.
c) playing two wingers and a big man up front.
 We play and win a game with two wingers and you all tut like you knew it was that easy all along. We played two wingers against Forest and it didn't work. As soon as Gus took Kaz off (who was playing well) we started competing for the ball in midfield and we were suddenly the better side. Two wingers has it's place, but not for every game.

Let's get a bit of perspective eh?

Poyet was always going to take Palace seriously, you're crackers if you think anything else. He wanted to sign Ulloa in the closed season not in the transfer window. He took LuaLua off and replaced him with Hammond after the first half when Forest bossed it and Kaz had almost done an Ashley Barnes and then we almost won it without 2 wingers.

If you think playing 2 wingers and a target man is suitable against every team we play then you're living in Cloud football manager cuckoo land.

We have the two of the most devastatingly effective wingers in the division. Until the situation was forced upon the manager, they were chronically underused. IMHO, like.

Competing with Hull for second place. Before we signed him a lot of Spanish journalists said they were surprised he wasn't going to a lower premier league club and I can see why.

I agree but two wingers with the target man being CMS or Barnes really wouldn't work. Now we have Ulloa who can score headers KLL and Buckley are a lot more effective, and don't forget Orlandi who likes to drift wide and get crosses in too. If we can keep this team next season I think we have a real shot of auto's or at least play offs.

In the top 2 , I think signing Ulloa in the summer would have seen CMS sold and investment in another striker from the transfer fee.

It would have worked with Barnes. He positions himself where a proper striker should position himself. CMS just has Tourettes Of The Legs, could be absolutely anywhere on the pitch at any given moment

Would be top 2 as he would have 20 + goals

Regarding 2 wingers , didn't work yesterday. Think at home is better for this formation

Buckley is excellent, and Kaz has his moments (he's been more fired up in the last two games than he was for a while - he may have been effected by his court case), but there are other decent wingers in the division too, ours are not the top two.

Underused, perhaps, that's up for debate, but some of ours NSC fans think we should start every game with two wingers, and it's just not as simple as that. I think it's worth taking the game to Palace as they're so poor in defence, but even in our 3-0 win we didn't boss the first 40 minutes, and yesterday it didn't work at all.
