Gus Poyet was impressed by his side’s second-half display, which he felt warranted all three points at the City Ground.
A late Henri Lansbury goal held the Seagulls to a 2-2 draw, and despite a below-par first-half display, the Albion boss was pleased with the players’ reaction after the break.
Poyet told seagulls.co.uk, “We gave 45 minutes away for no reason but then we had a more than decent second-half performance.
“We did nothing during the first half; we were doing nothing to win the game, we were not positive enough and we were not strong enough but at half-time we changed it.
“Then from the first minute of the second half we had a half-chance and in front of goal we were the better team. I’m happy about the second half with the attitude, the quantity of chances and the way we took our goals. The performances of key players were good but at the end of the day it was a draw.
“Don’t forget that this Forest team had won six in a row before today and they were very lucky to get a point.
“The second half by [Leonardo] Ulloa was one of those very good performances away from home, he was spectacular. He showed how to play on your own as a striker, how to finish, how to play with your left foot, your right foot, play with your head and bring other people into play.
“It was a very good performance but I’m not surprised.”
Forest’s equaliser was a fortuitous one as the ball slipped through the grasp of Casper Ankergren but Poyet refused to lay any blame with the Danish goalkeeper, who made a string of brilliant saves throughout the game.
“We say nothing about it. When a winger makes a mistake or when a midfielder misses a tackle, normally nothing happens. When you get closer to the goal and make a mistake you have a great chance of conceding and when you’re a goalkeeper it’s a goal.
“He made some important saves but you can’t even practice that sort of thing. It just happens. We win together, we lose together and we draw together. All the players know that.”
Meanwhile, Poyet confirmed that Liam Bridcutt and Tomasz Kuszczak both missed out owing to illness.
“They were both affected by a virus which they picked up. Liam didn’t travel but Tomasz did travel and got sent back.”
