...hope he's on the Seagull Player pre-Forest Thursday interview. Would love to hear from him about all the hot topics.... Reading, New Striker/s, PIG's poorly back and his thoughts on what could be an enormous match for us.

Me too. For all that I applaud the club's principle of saying nothing on speculation, that complete absence of a single word of comment from them or Gus on what's been a week of intense media speculation and attention is rather grating now. It's a kind of politburo-style refusal to discuss something they don't like - Barber being 'unavailable for comment' during all this was really odd. Once the thing's over, it wouldn't have killed them to say 'Reading approached us. Permission given. Gus spoke to them and decided to stay.' or 'No approach was made. All speculation. Gus didn't even speak to them.'

They must realise that such silence is merely going to intensify the questions as soon as Gus sits in front of the cameras again.

I think the club did exactly the right thing. No comment until there was anything substantial to say. The only reason we all expect or think we deserve some kind of explination is that we live in a 24/7 news and media world. I am as guilty as anyone for constantly looking at NSC, Twitter and the news channels for Albion comment. At the end of the day the club has been classy in this whole thing as have Reading actually. When Gus sits down today to do his presser of course there will be questions, he will tell us what happened and thats it. The most important thing now is the Forest game. Simple.

Let's hope they ask Charlie all the questions we need answering... or are interviewers told what they can or cannot ask? Does anyone know the rules?

What do we NEED answering? Gus is sorting a loan player out. That answers both doesn't it? He is staying and we are trying to get a loan striker!

I would certainly hope he is back: the players were at training yesterday.

Fair enough, but in my opinion the club's manager deciding to turn down an opportunity to leave (if indeed that's what happened) is something substantial to say. It didn't need to be a Proustian account of every movement and utterance over the piece, but a confirmation (or rebuttal) of what we've only heard in the press this whole time would have been reassuring to the support - we are, after all, to use the ghastly modern football-as-business parlance, 'stakeholders', are we not? I thought Barber would understand that much at least.

What questions? Gus is still at Brighton and we trying to sign a striker on loan.. You are not going to get any more information on either topic.

Oh come on. There's so much guess work going on here and in the press. Why can't we be told what's happening from the 'horse's-mouth'? I can't understand the secrecy and lack of comment from the club
