103.60 batting average for the series. Five catches in the 1st innings of the last test. Vice Captain. Telegraph rated him 9/10 for the series. Hero!

Trouble is with the ridiculous test commitments when will we ever see him playing for Sussex?

Absolute ****ing hero. Love the man and have been championing him for years. Every single other player in the squad should take a leaf out of his book after this series. Only Finn got close to being as professional and brilliant during the series. At least the management have realised that we were complacent. Probably a good think that we've had this kick up our arse pre-Ashes and Prior should be the person to emulate when we approach them.

It's a travesty (for England) that he's not in the limited overs teams... but

That's good news for Sussex.

Strange the way cricket works.

If you have an international in your footy team the only time you might lose him is he was African and selected to play in the African Cup thingy. Otherwise there's a break in the season while the internationals are being played.

In cricket however, if you have an international in your team you lose him for pretty much the whole season. So what exactly is the point of counties developing youngsters to England level? If they're TOO good you lose them! Weird way of organising a sport.

International cricket is the only real income for the sport, I think that the counties benefit to about £20M a season from centrally generated funds, and are compensated extra for players being given central contracts.

Top Top Cricketer, but he should be playing for England as W/K in all formats, miles better than Bedwetter and the other pretenders....

He had a bad time and fought back to form and is a better player for it well done mattie. Look forward to seeing him back playing for Sussex sharks. You also make your own luck? He is great example to younger players keep working hard and you will improve.

Should be in the England one-day and T20 teams too, but I think the MCC have found a South African for some of those, which obviously is far preferable to them - they've only got two South Africans in the test team at the moment; that must be really disappointing for them, poor lambs!

Mind you, I'd like to see Prior playing for Sussex as much as possible, too.

Good tho see SUSSEX saving the day against NZ, wasn't it!

I would like to know what M/P really thinks about K/P ? For me M/P has worked hard to restore his early promrise and to do that you practice, practice & practice and when you don't get picked for the IPL you go back and practice & the result is M/P saves England. It's known as doing your job.

His father (not a grandfather or uncle or anything) was English - and he moved to England as a child.........and learned his cricket in England. But yes, that South African connection (as well as being the best wicket-keeper batsman in the world at the moment) has probably influenced the selectors when it came to selecting him!

That would be KP who pretty much all the press agree is one the hardest training and practising of the team?

Anyway, Prior's now ranked at the 10th best batsmen in the world
