It had Div 3 at the top, not two.

I thought a pedant would have noticed.

The Brighton - Palace match was played on 12th Jan 1963, one of a very few matches taking place in the UK.
The Albion hired a tar-melter to thaw out the pitch, and managed to play 3 successive home matches between 12th Jan and 2nd Feb, when most other games were off. Unfortunately the scheme didn't pan out as they hoped with only one point gained from those three matches, and the pitch suffered some damage.
