[h=3]Albion suffer misery at Oakwell[/h]10:01pm Tuesday 12th March 2013 in Albion By Brian Owen
Albion’s play-off hopes took another battering tonight – and not just because they lost in a tale of two penalties at Barnsley.
Chris Dagnall converted from the spot to give the delighted Tykes their 2-1 win at freezing Oakwell.
Leo Ulloa, who had earlier headed the Seagulls level, had the chance to score a second equaliser when Inigo Calderon was pushed over in the box.
But Ulloa’s penalty was parried by Luke Steele diving to his right.
Ulloa took the penalty because David had earlier been replaced by Kazenga LuaLua, whose performance off the bench changed the game.
LuaLua was a constant threat and produced the clever touch from which Calderon crossed for Ulloa to head home at the far post.
El-Abd was booked for conceding Barnsley’s penalty and will miss the next two games.
And right-back Bruno could also be out of action after limping off in the second half.
The muscular Jason Scotland shrugged off El-Abd’s challenge to fire Barnsley ahead on 15 minutes.
They were well worth their half-time lead, although Will Buckley sent Albion’s only two chances of the period off target.
