Gus Poyet said that certain players could get the chance to prove themselves at Barnsley on Tuesday night and has called for the whole squad to make sure they are ready to perform.
This fixture will be the third away game in eight days for the Seagulls and the Albion boss may have to call upon players who have not been regulars on the field for the first team.
Poyet told seagulls.co.uk, “We have a few little problems but that’s why we need the whole squad. Every day we have been saying that the whole squad is important and players need to be ready. We’ve said that sooner or later a few will have a chance and now players have a great chance of playing so it’s up to them.
“If they play well and we win they have a great chance to be involved in the biggest game of the season on Sunday – Palace at home. I hope that they will be ready.
“It will be another tough game at Barnsley and we watched a bit of them on the way home on Saturday but it was difficult to analyse because it was an FA Cup game against Manchester City. We’ve watched previous games as well and in one the pitch did not look fantastic so we will see tomorrow morning what the pitch is like as well.”
Tuesday night’s game will be Albion’s game in hand over sixth-placed Nottingham Forest as well as the two teams immediately below, and a win will take the Seagulls back into the play-off positions.
“The snow made it difficult for us to do anything this morning so we just want to travel, get there on time with the traffic and be ready for the game because there are too many away games right now. We need to make the best of the situation.
“We played one of the best games away from home against Bolton on Saturday and we lost but if we play like that again I’m sure that we will have a great chance of winning.
“A lot is up to us but to play a football game you need both teams and when the opposition plays one way it can be difficult to get away from it, like at Bristol where we could not play our game. It’s up to us to try and sort it out on the pitch and open the game up.
“We gave away too many points at this stage of the season last year and we are trying to sort that out this time.”
