GUS Poyet has attacked the Football League for making Albion play at Barnsley tomorrow night.
The Seagulls requested a later rearrangement after the match, originally scheduled for February 16, had to be postponed due to Barnsley's involvement in the FA Cup.
Instead, Albion’s attempt to return immediately to the Championship play-off zone after dropping to seventh with Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Bolton completes a sequence of three away games in a week following last Tuesday’s goalless draw at Bristol City.
Boss Poyet told The Argus: “We said later on, after coming back from the internationals, in April. They said 12th of March, so why ask?
“We shouldn’t be playing three away games, that is what the rules say. But also the rules say sometimes if you have a rearranged game maybe you will, so what a rule! There is always a way out.
“Why? Because we are Brighton and while we don’t go up and are still firmly in the Football League we are going to have no chance.”
Albion are a point below sixth-placed Nottingham Forest with the Barnsley fixture in hand and two behind fifth-placed Leicester, who visit leaders Cardiff tomorrow night.
Barnsley, beaten 5-0 at Manchester City in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup on Saturday evening, have fallen to the foot of the table after Bristol City beat Middlesbrough and Peterborough drew with Ipswich.
